<p>For treatment of panic disorder, there are two types of antidepressants recommended: the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors or SSRI and the tricyclic antidepressants.&nbsp; While under this type of medication, it is important for the patient to consult with his or her physician for assessment in intervals of four, six and twelve weeks.&nbsp; Through these consultations, the physician may assess which treatment is proving to be the most effective for the patient while the patient can discuss with the doctor any concerns he or she has with the medication.&nbsp; From the consultations, the physician may also assess if the patient is in need of a different medication type.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In today&#8217;s society, it has been estimated that 40 million men and women 18 years and above deal with anxiety attacks. Anxiety attacks are commonly attributed to feelings of worry and fear over certain situations and events, which they view that they have no control over it. Although these are emotions that are felt by everyone at certain points in their lives, anxiety attacks are more than just another one of those emotions.</p>

<p>Anxiety attacks is one of the most common mental health conditions that affects men and women of all ages. The different symptoms of anxiety attacks vary depending on the severity of the condition. If left untreated, anxiety attacks can greatly affect the ability of a person to function normally at work, at home and in society.</p>

<p>People struggling with anxiety attacks experience a number of different physical sensations. These signs often differ according to the patient&#8217;s age, sex, medical history and many other factors.
<p>For cases of young children and adolescents, hostility, grumpiness,temper and general irritability may be the signs of depression. These cases occur due to the fact that these young boys and girls know that they do not have much authority over their lives therefore they try very hard to irritate you so that they catch your much needed attention in order for you to adhere to their needs. Other signs of depression may include excessive aggression, recklessness, increased violent behavior and substance abuse including alcohol. However for men, depression episodes are most of the time brought by external factors such as financial constraints, delayed life achievements and bad relationships. Due to this reason, their depression episodes do not last for long or at least exists only for the period during which the problem is being experienced.
<p>Women on the other hand, mostly get depressed due to internal body factors such as hormonal changes that directly affect the part of the brain in charge of emotions.Therefore,the rate of depression in women is often higher than men. To notice depressed women is most of the time seen to be an easy task since they tend to be moody especially when pregnant, over weight as a result of eating more due to depression, withdrawn most of the time, always sad, uncertain about themselves and so on. In many cases involving suicide, the cause or one of the causes is depression. In medical knowledge terms, this is a relatively new disease. Medical experts have only recently come to grips with the condition and thankfully are now able to offer a variety of treatment options.</p>
<p>And like many debilitating conditions, depression affects not just the sufferer but those around them. That&#8217;s why one of the treatment options actually involves the entire immediate family.</p>
<p>Depression is a mental illness and affects males and females and both young and old. One of the best ways to treat someone with depression is to have them reside in a treatment facility. Of course they can be treated in their own home and by making out-patient visits to a clinic or wherever. But having the patient reside in a facility enables the staff to work with the depression sufferer on a full time basis.</p>
<p>If in residence, the patient will receive a great deal of counseling and therapy. They will have the opportunity to mix with other like-minded suffers. This can lead to forming new friendships which are definitely a boon in the treatment process. Then too relating well with the medical staff clearly helps and all this relationship building is doing one important thing &#8211; it is taking the patient&#8217;s mind off their depression.</p>
<p>Nowadays drugs play an important role in helping people with depression. But every patient is unique and drugs will not always be the best option. Because depression affects people of all ages, a drug which may be prescribed for an otherwise fit and healthy teenager, would not be considered for an older person with medical problems. <p>People receiving treatment for depression are rarely if ever disciplined or punished. The aim is always to encourage. Group sessions with up to half a dozen patients will often be held. Here residents are encouraged to speak out, to discuss their problems, fears and ways of handling their life. Other residents are helped simply by realizing they are not alone and that others too have feelings of despair and loneliness. All residents are encouraged to participate.</p>
<p>As mentioned before, family therapy is sometimes used. This has many benefits. Obviously it aims to assist the patient but as it can also help family members better understand the condition, living with a person who has depression is made easier and hopefully better. Often the problem is that family members don&#8217;t know about or therefore understand the condition. All that can be corrected by having therapy sessions as a family unit.</p>
